The Importance of Play: Part One

Let me ask you a few questions … and answer honestly.  When was the last time you jumped in a puddle?  Or in a pile of leaves?  When can you last remember building a fort, playing pirate, or sledding down a hill?  Can’t remember?  Or did the general answer of “when I was a kid”…

A Closer Look at the Spokane River

As many of you know, Fun Unlimited has two locations on the Spokane River – one in Downtown Spokane and one in Post Falls.  It is, to put it simply, the lifeblood of our business, the backbone of our region, and a source of never-ending fun.  That’s why we’d like to stop and take a…

Do you like the water?  If so, you need to head down to the Spokane Fair and Expo Center from February 1st to the 9th for the Spokane Boat Show.  Why?  To visit us, of course, not to mention the 50 other dealers and vendors that are about all things water. Whether you’re looking to…

10 Fun Family Activities to Try This Winter

Not everyone loves winter.  The icy roads, the muddy slush, the shoveling, the sub-zero temperatures … yeah, there are a lot reasons to stay inside and curl up with a cup of cocoa.  After all, not everyone likes to hurtle down a mountainside on skis with nothing but a helmet for protection.  During the height…

Spokane Health & Fitness Expo

We would like to invite you to come and visit us at the Spokane Health & Expo event this weekend (January 5 and 6) at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center. First the basics – it starts on the 5th at 10:00 am and is $8 at the door ($6 if you buy early from their site, see link below).  Be prepared and come dressed to work-out because your admission fee covers all the classes offered at the main stage including yoga, Zumba, bootcamp and more.  There will also be vendors, speakers, and chances to participate in Ninja Warrior obstacles, a climbing wall, and aerial skills (to name a few). Stop in to see us at the Fun Unlimited/Stillwater Outdoors booth to get information about who we are, what we do, and allow us to share our passion for…

Sharing Economy

I think all of us learned the importance of sharing as children. We were told to share with our siblings, our fellow classmates, and other kids on the playground. Why then, may I ask, do we shy away from sharing as adults? Our society is obsessed with the idea of ownership and for decades our…

Winter Wonderland

I think I’m a bit of an oddity among my friends and family.  I love snow.  I grew up in Northern Wisconsin where storms often dumped upwards of 12 inches of snow in a matter of hours and it wasn’t uncommon to trudge through 2 or 3 feet just to make it across the yard. …

Paddle Boarding Popularity

Over the last three years we have seen a continental shift with the popularity of paddle boarding. Most significantly, when we started in 2010, most people didn’t even know what paddle boarding was. Now, when we say paddle boarding, 95% of the general population at least knows what we are talking about. We have noticed that the sport is now known by general public but we still believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg for the sport’s popularity and here is why: Of the 1000 or so people that rented paddle boards from Fun Unlimited this summer, probably 90% of the population has not even tried paddle boarding yet, but when they do, 99% of them are up on their feet within a minute and of those who try it, 95% of them love it and come…

Why Should I Purchase a Lake Coeur D’ Alene Boat Rental Package?

It always strikes me as a little bit funny as I drive around the Coeur D’ Alene and Spokane  and see all the boats sitting in Driveways and garages. It seems that these are more static displays than functional vehicles; they seem to rarely move. When you take into consideration the cost and time involved with owning a boat, I believe that it is much more practical and convenient to purchase a membership to a coeur d’ alene boat club or a boat rental package. In this article, the author states that the average boat engine only accumulates 30-40 hours of use per year. Assuming a boat motor will get about 5 hours of use in a day on the lake, that is only 6 or 8 days of use per year. Carefree boat club estimates that the true cost of…

Lake Coeur d’Alene is one of Idaho’s most popular tourist attractions. Not only does the lake offer the opportunity for you and your family to enjoy a day of aquatic fun, but the picturesque scenery also makes for a beautiful backdrop for any special occasion. This gorgeous body of water offers panoramic views of the surrounding areas. It is a perfect place to watch for numerous bird species such as nesting ospreys and bald eagles, and you may even catch some moose, deer, elk, or bears roaming the area. These animals are all common along the eastern shoreline of Lake Coeur d’Alene. The lake begins near the intersection…
